May 12, Toyota plant in St. Petersburg, fully restarted the production of cars, suspended from March 30 due to decree of the President of Russian Federation concerning additional measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.In the same time warehouses of service spare parts in the Moscow region and Novosibirsk will begin their work in the normal mode. This was reported to the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the press service of Toyota Motor, noting that the company met all the necessary sanitary and epidemiological conditions for work in full compliance with the requirements and recommendations of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare.
At the end of 2019, Toyota's plant in St. Petersburg increased production by 1.5% to 74.8 thousand Toyota Camry and RAV4 cars, which was the best result in the company's history.Last year in october in St. Petersburg, the fifth-generation Toyota RAV4 crossover was launched, built on the innovative architecture platform TNGA. Technological changes in the new Toyota RAV4 required a significant change in the manufacturing process. Investments in the modernization of workshops for the project amounted to 4.8 billion rubles (as of September 2019). Over the entire history of the Toyota plant in St. Petersburg, more than 30 billion rubles have been invested in the development of production.
