Sales of new cars in Russia fell by 64% due to COVID-19 pandemic
Most of cars in Russia last month were traditionally sold by AVTOVAZ. During the month, 12.8 thousand Lada cars were sold in Russia.
In Russia in April of this year, 54.5 thousand new cars were sold. This figure is 64% less than the figures for the same period in 2019. Then, 152.2 thousand cars were sold on the Russian market. In addition, it is almost three times lower than March sales (160.6 thousand cars sold). This was reported by the analytical agency "Avtostat".
Analysts explain such indicators by the COVID-19 epidemic. During a pandemic, Russia has a non-working regime. At this time, dealers were forced to curtail physical sales of cars. At the same time, a number of brands launched online car sales.

In addition to them, the thousandth milestone was overcome by Mazda (1.2 thousand units; -51%) and Mercedes-Benz (1.1 thousand units; -68%).
As for the first four months, the sales here also went negative. From January to April in the Russian Federation automobile brands sold 430.1 thousand cars. This is 9.5% less than in January – April last year.
