Belarusian automaker BelGee and Cluster AI have agreed to work together on automotive components and electronics localization in Russia

On April 15, 2021, the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Samara Region signed an action plan for 2021-2023, in which the automotive industry is one of the priority areas for the cooperation development.

 

The First Vice-Governor, Chairman of the Government of the Samara Region Viktor Kudryashov and Chairman of the Belneftekhim Concern Andrey Rybakov (Republic of Belarus) held a meeting of the Joint Working Group on the development of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Samara region.

 

The event was attended by Andrey Kraynov, General Director of the Cluster of Automotive Industry.  He gave a speech on cooperation between the Samara Region and the Republic of Belarus in the automotive industry. The automotive industry from the Republic of Belarus was represented by Andrey Polegoshko, Deputy Director for Material and Technical Supply of BelGee, Andrey Bunakov, General Director of JSC Belshina, as well as a representative of JSC BATE.

 

The participants of the Joint Working Group signed documents on cooperation: the action plan for 2021-2023 on the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Samara Region on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, socio-cultural and humanitarian spheres of September 29, 2020.

 

As part of the plan implementation, BelGee and Cluster AI will start joint activities in order to localize the automotive components and autoelectronics acquired by BelGee in the Samara Region and the Russian Federation, including the following areas:

• formation and approval of the list of automotive components, autoelectronics, materials for BelGee localization and further Supplier Days organization
• BelGee Supplier Days in the Samara region and other key regions of the Russian automotive industry
• specific requests processing by the Cluster AI for BelGee localization and selection of potential suppliers of automotive components located in the Samara region and the Russian Federation as a whole

The Cluster AI will keep on working on attracting automotive components manufacturers of the Republic of Belarus to the requests processing for the automotive components supply for the Russian enterprises. Also, they discussed the participation in Supplier Days for automakers and automotive components manufacturers.

 

In the near future, the parties plan to start implementing the discussed areas of cooperation.  At first, the possibility of the BelGee Supplier Day in the Samara region will be considered in the second half of 2021.

 

On April 20, the Governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov held a meeting with Vladimir Semashko, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation.

 

At the meeting, they identified 15 areas of cooperation, which are noted in the protocol. In the near future, the document will be finished and it will be a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations between the Samara region and the Republic of Belarus.

In 2020, the company produced about 20,400 cars, more than 13,500 cars of which were imported duty-free and sold on the Russian market (about 180 million US dollars). In 2021, BelGee plant plans to launch the production of two new Atlas Pro models and the GS hatchback, increase production volumes and sales in Russia to 15-20 thousand cars.
